Building up Atlantis out of all these broken records Beats by Ghost he puzzle rhythm like a wizard on the MPC Message in a bottle said the gods they must be crazy Hard to swallow like a razor you’ve been fronting on me lately Take your pain like badge of honor Cadavers that turn to zombies The radio turn it off wanna hear my own whispers Saw the reflection of a possible future in oil puddles Don’t look too long Medusa spoiled rotten American brats that need spanks While they always clap at the saints killing messiah American brats that need spanks While they always clap at the saints killing messiah I’ve been.. Digging up those bones that they cover with candy paint Keep smiling Even when your soul knows there’s something wrong These ghosts are lonely looking for a friend in need Keep smiling I’ll be the bridge, I’ll be the bridge Motivate your consciousness to rise up like a tidal wave Living like a lion in the zoo they took our pride away Separated from our babies dream seeds in cemeteries Somebody needed to water you, too deep buried Started to reach felt the presence of sun Couldn’t see it but I trusted there was something above Worth living for, cooking like I wrote this verse on kitchen floor In ketchup got ‘em slipping towards the essence, listen deeper I’ve been.. Digging up those bones that they cover with candy paint Keep smiling Even when your soul knows there’s something wrong These ghosts are lonely looking for a friend in need Keep smiling I’ll be the bridge, I’ll be the bridge

A song bird flew into our window today And broke its neck and died And as my wife buried this beautiful little bird with a yellow belly I couldn’t help but realize that as it flew into our window I had been singing my wife a song And asking her if it was good enough (You know what to do Kevin..”) I always lean on you like a junky on a lamppost in the rain And you never judge me, no They’re throwing vegetables again at all my masterpieces man But that never budged me If I was Marvin Gaye I’d sing like ladadada But I smoke too much for that anyway If I was Mr. Gates I’d buy a plane to fly away But I’m much too broke for that So I’ll just sit here awhile With wrinkles from smiling like a fool, uh-huh, like a fool, uh-huh I’ll just sit here awhile With wrinkles from smiling like a fool, uh-huh like a fool, uh-huh When they don’t throw confetti And they boo at you like ghost, not ready My antennas still pointed at you Still shoot three pointer like ooh darling I’m hardly Jordan but I’m in the paint Get the party started when they said I can’t And you’re all invited, held the lightning Songbird fell from the sky So I’ll just sit here awhile With wrinkles from smiling like a fool, uh-huh, like a fool, uh-huh I’ll just sit here awhile With wrinkles from smiling like a fool, uh-huh like a fool, uh-huh Caught up again he.. Penny for thoughts knock knock Buncha hollow heads there aren’t any Caught up in Xanny caught up in Henny Caught up in what your friends think The real epidemic is a loss of identity Standing on the side frostbitten Like a lost mitten still use my finger for flipping you off If you blocking the kids with your rotten addiction Pop culture fishbowl claustrophobically swimming This is open water open your heart it’s a start To the son and daughters, don’t bartyr for the sparks Or be a martyr for the charts Intelligence is dumbfounded when you’re really grounded in the art So I’ll just sit here awhile With wrinkles from smiling like a fool, uh-huh like a fool, uh-huh I’ll just sit here awhile With wrinkles from smiling like a fool, uh-huh like a fool, uh-huh

Living the story that the spider wove Looking for that medicine that sounds like poison Till I’m empty I’ll cry these songs aplenty My tears hit dirt it’s muddy Till the creek rise to the clouds Can’t offend me I’m everything you call me Your shadow in the morning Till hell rise to the clouds Crocodile in the sky you’ve been talking lie Whitewash baby God is a Gemini Many sides, even the Devil you gotta let inside Look at all you little humans trying to categorize, you’re cute Like Pan with the flute, mister hoof man planting forbidden fruit Dripping off my chin as I sing this here Wet rhythm hit ‘em with some mud in the ear Till I’m empty I’ll cry these songs aplenty My tears hit dirt it’s muddy Till the creek rise to the clouds Can’t offend me I’m everything you call me Your shadow in the morning Till hell rise to the clouds Their medicine is poison poison poison Selling you those fancy collars jewelry Dressing up your demons like little dolls Till the boogie man come drag you through the street I don’t even know what you call this Flow so gross like the swampiest monsters Cut that throat of old boy Adonis Honestly really tired of that pretty shit When most times it’s the most hideous Lies insidious, pop candy sugar Rot tooth you suffer Hot sands in summer Walk talk or tuck tail baby gotta utter that guttural Show your fangs now, wonderful The thing hunting you’s another you So say hello, say hello Say hello, say hello you motherfucker

Ugliness is sexy if it’s true You’re the bee’s knees but only when you are you Supernatural, only supernatural Cause I’ve been up all night with the shadows Trying to put a match to the gasoline Working me to bone ain’t nobody home Always looking in the screen for paradise Walking in blind to the battle And you wonder why your mind isn’t free Your destiny to choose, think I lit a fuse She said we will explode like TNT In my pajamas smoke marijuana, I dream Big kid also father so I’m balancing Manage my mental health Only job to be yourself Suddenly I’m someone else Feelings that I’ve never felt Too inspired probably melt Molly, Roch we wild as hell Never fit society redefining this life ourself Finding the uh harmony in dichotomy Disarming me to the god in me Buttnaked fuck economy I shake it with autonomy Anonymously, don’t ask my name That’s ghost to ghost to ghost to ghost to ghost that you can blame Autonomy, anonymously, don’t ask my name That’s ghost to ghost to ghost to ghost to ghost that you can blame Cause I’ve been up all night with the shadows Trying to put a match to the gasoline Working me to bone ain’t nobody home Always looking in the screen for paradise Walking in blind to the battle And you wonder why your mind isn’t free Your destiny to choose, think I lit a fuse She said we will explode like TNT Wonder what that funk tastes like Kevin hit the drum bass like thumbs of thunder And I speak from underneath daylight This shit was painstaking earning these stripes Zebra fighting lions bleeding for life Cyclical until you get your visuals up higher Peacoat peacock we spoke bebop Poet becoming the water, teapot Unrealistic till you put in the work Can’t make nothing if you scared of getting your feelings hurt Pushing your buttons like God on the MPC Switch the lingo and give me the skinny quit fibbing to me like a gringo Like God on the MPC Switch the lingo and give me the skinny quit fibbing to me like a gringo Yo Wiill, get these motherfuckers If I spit it legitimate Flowing with the instrument Channeling the sun through the sky cause that's my stimulant Why do I feel different? Man why do I feel villainous? Feel like just like I’m vigilant Tryna live my life as I want cause i'm a lyricist Been on the road for so long I lost my home I lost my innocence Just tryna look through pyramids My brother tore his ligaments Analogies for killing shit We both started bubbling tell me that’s a coincidence Why do I feel infinite when I’m alone? Does that mean that I’ll never find a home? Don’t matter what block we on Or time zone If the rhythm in my soul ticks tempo to another song Different tempos in my pulse got me freaking though I’m afraid to die alone But I won’t ask for help at all Scared to know one day we fall Envious of the view that we rising to gracious arms God love I don’t got love I’m sorry that I don’t got none Sometimes I feel like holding y’all up for ransom Maybe I’m a bandit Or maybe I’m a phantom Of the opera That’s a different genre But I still I got this armor Underneath everything maybe I’m just water

Poet 03:07
Soon as you thought it was this saw it was different now Started using your lips for more than kissing now Momma I want to sing but momma I want to trick Momma I’m sucking dicks, it’s time to fuck the system now This is not red carpet red dress This is visitation from the priestess Headdress east coast west ghost greenlit Run a red light it don’t mean shit Societal chains The Bible used on wild to tame That’s a cage that they make for the child to train Into a circus monkey Behind the curtain shit get ugly Just a perfect dummy, manikin puppet for the money Hands of the ventriloquist are gambling hungry Touching the artist’s heart like grizzly to honey But this is Quiet Storm Queen B shit for you dunny Like Queensbridge beats channeling sun anonymous It ain’t about us, ghosts in the song singing Timeless, Motown bells ringing This is firefly mason jar nutcrackers from Dykeman Sharpened my pencil in Central Park And my blade in Riverside epitomize grit Real rap shit times a million batshit with the flow That’s a catalyst to grow Attitude of change be a shame not to open our hearts We need shine in these dark times All these false prophets Where is the poet? Get off your soapbox we need the wood for fire World in so much pain in denial trying to hide it Complacent goliath giggling maniacally Machine reign supreme got my dreams in psychiatry It’s inside out this freedom is actually a prison Trying to get my seek on But people too addicted to the screen yawning Under awning of bodega at dawn Me and Beat’s said, let’s resurrect the secret Lost cities raw graffiti on my wall dripping I hold the seed in my heart baby god given Guarding it so that the garden can grow Hyperspace Eden so close and far I don’t know If we can make it past hate learn the art of the soul But as long as ya’ll cutting art budgets in schools We ain’t budging from the Funk keep it muddy as roots Follow nature only way we gon’ uncover the truth This ain’t a song motherfucker this is doomsday music Wake up they pay you to stay down and shut up Play clown and you stay in your place in your spot In your race in your box hear the sounds of the cops they coming Arrested by those you arrest Killed by the ones you murder Street poet returns to flesh Outside the bodega like.. We need shine in these dark times All these false prophets Where is the poet?

about

The multifaceted musician, Zachary Murdock, was fueled by a newfound purpose in the many months leading up to the birth of his first son, inspired to push forward and break new ground. To shed old skins. To create the best art of his career. Now, a year later, comes Ghost To Ghost, Vol. 1 - a spiritually menacing EP that takes a deep dive into your soul...if you let it.

This EP is not your typical project. It’s genre-less, even while tipping its cap to hip-hop, funk and soul. It’s a type of music that makes the hardest of men appreciate sounds that they’ve never figured to pay attention to. Almost unbelievably, the project was made completely in quarantine, and none of the songs were created with any of the musicians in the same room. “We have never even met Beats by Ghostwriter [one of the project’s three producers] in person! A testament to the power of art and soul connection and how where there’s a will there's a way,” shares Zach.
